A quiet, gentle soul, happiest either in my own company or out with one or two friends - not a fan of big social gatherings.
I'm a great nature lover - when fully fit I'll go off on very long walks, but a long term leg problem has restricted me. However, I still find strolling through a wood, around a lake, by a river or along a clifftop wonderfully refreshing regardless of distance or speed. Will always stop to read an information board and learn something about the nature or history of the area!
I live surrounded by books (and have even written one). Home office doubles as a library, but that doesn't stop me fitting a few extra bookcases in other rooms as well. I don't stick to a particular genre or author, I just read whatever interests me. Might be history, science, travel, global affairs, sport...
Love travelling - the more obscure the destination and the longer the trip, the better. Equally happy poking around ancient ruins, exploring the back streets of a city, wildlife spotting or admiring the scenery on a gentle-ish walk - sadly not up to serious trekking at the moment.
The rest of the time I can usually be found playing the French horn (badly) in a local amateur orchestra. My idea of an evening out is a concert or play; for a day trip I'd go to a museum or historic site.
I also tell jokes, although the quality of them is in the assessment of the listener (How is an iPhone like a medieval knight? Neither of them lasts long without their charger).
I've been settled in one place for a few years, but open to moving for the right person. I've recently taken up gardening, so wherever we choose to live I'd like it to have enough space for me to plant a few fruit trees.

Someone to go through the ups and downs of life with. To celebrate together when we've earned it, to support each other when we need it, to share intelligent conversation, a hug or a good laugh - and to explore the world together, whether that's a trip across continents or just a walk in the nearest park.
Some shared hobbies would be nice - if you're a musician we could even try duetting (although my standard may not be up to yours!) - although of course we'll each have our own pursuits as well.
I wouldn't say I have many deal breakers, but far right political views are certainly one. If you think immigrants are to blame for the country's problems, we are not going to get on.
